HCHS 77(20241010)

Our 65th Birthday Bash

September 6 & 7 2024 at the Hinton Legion.

Thanks so much to all those who attended. It was fantastic to see the familiar faces, even if our recall is not what it might have once been. {:-) A huge commendation to Denise and Rocky for organisation and presentation, and to Calvin for hosting the clan at his ranchito. Mike Bell again made the longest jaunt from Australia. Maybe for the first time, we posed for some class photos, one with just classmates (index here), and another one including spouses. Through Natalie, we also can include an original graduation group photo. Click on the images for full size.

65th Birthday Bash Prelude

For all you who have been waiting for ages, the plan is for a class reunion in 2024 to celebrate and reminisce. An initial step is to update the contact list.

Give it a scan, then correct and add (dates?) as required, it saves automagically. If you desire a different name on the address, let us know.

50 Year Bash at Mary Reimer Park, 2009-08-21 to 23

Those who couldn't make it you need to be at the next one for sure! It was a blast and I look forward to the next one. I am on Facebook too if anyone wants to connect.

Sounds like it could be quite fun but unfortunately I will not be able to attend. As you may know I have been living outside of Canada for the last 20 odd years and quite simply am unable to get back as often as I would like.

[Rick] Attached are a few photos of myself and my family that we took on our vacation to Sicily this summer. We are a truly international family, Ulla my wife is Finnish, Elsa my daughter is British, Henri my son is American, and I am Canadian. We currently are living in Helsinki, Finland and will likely remain here until we retire.

Just a quick note to let you know what I have been up to. After I left Hinton I went to college in Kamloops, which eventually led to an undergraduate degree in Economics from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver.

With some encouragement from a friendly Professor I then moved on to do a Masters in Business at the Helsinki School of Economics, in Helsinki Finland. This is where I met my wife. After working in the international banking industry, I became an independent financial consultant. During the course of time I have lived and worked in London, Helsinki, Saint Petersburg, Hamburg, Dallas, Miami and have now returned to Helsinki.

Recently I have started studying again and am currently doing my PHD Postgraduate Doctorate in Law at the University of Helsinki.

Hope everyone is well and please give everyone my best regards.

Rick James

The latest from Doug:

Good morning everyone!!!

Hope your summer has been a good one so far and you all must be excited about next weekend of course.

Here is my last reminder about our 50th B-day party!! This next weekend in Hinton, Aug. 21, 22, and 23 at the Mary Reimer Park rodeo grounds. Camping is available without services! We'll be having a BBQ Saturday night and a Pancake breakfast Sunday morning. Bring your guitar or whatever musical instrument for some impromptu entertainment. This is a great chance to reconnect with old friends and classmates; share pictures of your own families and just generally catch-up with our busy lives

. Since my last e-mail I have personally touched base with some of you after 32-34 years and I have really enjoyed your calls and correspondence and those I will bring with me to convey to everyone! Special thanks to those that included photos of their families. My cell phone number is 587-645-2345 and I will leave it on this weekend if anyone would like to call and get passed around to whomever you would like to chat with. Baden Kudrenecky will be taking photos and posting them on our site, hchs-77.org, as he did last time so check out the pictures from 2007 if you haven't already!!

Chris Wilson is on hand Thursday evening to register any early arrivals and I hope to renew our contact lists again as some people were missed by difficulty of locating them.hope we can find them for the next reunion!!

Thanks again everyone, look forward to seeing you this weekend in Hinton.
Doug

More Reunion:

Good Day everybody. Hope you are all healthy and happy. B-day greetings to several of you that have already turned 50 and all the rest of you waiting for your big 50

I heard over this weekend that my Christmas e-mail may not have been delivered so we'll play a little catch-up here. I had my computer crash and replaced so maybe had to do with that problem.

We are looking for confirmation of who can attend the weekend of August 21-23, 09 that we can provide a price per person to everyone. Costs include Saturday night BBQ and Sunday morning breakfast as well as the rent for the rodeo grounds. Similar attendance would keep the price at approximately $25-$30 per person all inclusive. Let me know if you plan on attending ASAP and I will forward an e-mail with as many names of the MIA's for your assistance in getting in touch with.

Hope to hear from you soon,
Doug (e-mail Doug@hchs-77.org)

The Half Century Reunion

is now scheduled for 2009-08-21 to 23 at Mary Reimer Park

This is the big reunion where we should all be past or fast approaching a half century on this planet, so plan to be there!

From Doug:

Consensus of the Class of 77 50th Birthday Bash is to have the reunion at the Rodeo grounds again. Feedback agrees that the end of August, 2009 will work best again so we have booked for the 21-23 of August, 2009. Our committee is as follows; Garth Brown, Bruce Hore, Cathy Papirny, Calvin Bauer, Roger Kolberg, Doug Snider and past chairperson Denise Boutin. Calvin and Cheryl have agreed to host the pancake breakfast again and I am going to contact Rocky to put together some entertainment; maybe hook Rocky up with Natalie to do the music...anyway they can let me know after they read this letter...lol, I'm sure they will!

The committee will be contacting everyone to assist in locating those missing in action over the last 30 years; would love to have a spectacular turnout like last year. Other news...Chris Wilson tells me he is retiring from the Armed Forces after 30 years this August. Congrats Chris and best wishes for a long and happy retirement.

All the best,
Doug Snider (email)

The 30th Reunion at Mary Reimer Park, 2007-08-24 to 26:

Terrific weekends don't always happen solely by chance ... Denise, Chuck, Calvin and all other organizing members and workers did a bang up job. Often it's the homies that get left with all the organizing and heavy lifting so I must say I am very appreciative of all that you guys do to make these reunions happen. I especially want to recognize Denise. I didn't get to thank her in person nor, did we thank her after the great dinner on Saturday ... but better late than never ... despite being a relative "newcomer" by most other classmate standards ... Denise, you lead by example and your personality and hard work epitomizes the spirit that makes these kinds of events happen. Thank you again.

Rocky Sinclair

We had a great time at the reunion, so Kudos to all those that put the event on and a big thanks for making the effort to find all of us. Speaking as one who has moved from Hinton, I for one really appreciate being invited as I don't tend to get back as often as I should, then when I do, I tend to just visit my brothers, sisters and mom and dad so there is not a lot of time left to say hi to old class mates. It truly was fantastic to see all who attended.
